ANCHORAGE, AK- Sources tell Your Alaska Link that convicted serial killer Robert Hansen was close to death Wednesday morning.

75-year-old Robert Hansen was moved from the Seward jail May 11 to receive medical attention. He's being held in the medical segregation unit at the Anchorage Correctional Center, similar to a hospital unit within a prison.

Corrections spokeswoman Sherrie Daigle says she couldn't release details about his illness or care.

Hansen, who owned an Anchorage bakery, was convicted in 1984 after confessing to killing 17 women and raping another 30 in a 12-year span. He received a 461 year sentence.

A 2013 film titled, "The Frozen Ground," starred Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage as an Alaska State Trooper investigating the murder spree, and actor John Cusack portrayed Hansen.
