JUNEAU- There're no more free rides when it comes to parking violations in Juneau.

The City and Borough of Juneau is once again issuing parking tickets in the capital.

A decision from the Alaska Supreme Court earlier this year said citations not issued in person weren't allowed. The decision meant tickets left under a windshield weren't valid, and citations had to be hand-delivered to violators.

The assembly has since passed an ordinance allowing the city to handle parking violations. Citations weren't issued on a wide-scale to allow for a transition period, which has now ended.

Appeals of citations will now go before a City and Borough of Juneau hearing officer.
