Local Gas Station Celebrates 30 Years in Business

After more than 30 years in business, Garrett's Tesoro is celebrating its grand re-opening.

(ANCHORAGE, AK) - After more than 30 years in business, Garrett's Tesoro is celebrating its grand re-opening.

Garrett's Tesoro located on International Airport Road and Arctic Boulevard installed new gas pumps and new pavement this year.

Garrett's Tesoro offers unleaded gas and diesel being a common stop for truckers in Alaska.

Owner and operator, Nelson Garrett, says much of the gas station's success is due to his location in which motorists stop by on the way out of town or on their way to the airport.

Garrett says local businesses are one of his biggest supporters.

"They like the independent business people of Alaska and Anchorage, and I will say this, we got a great following because we're not always the cheapest but we try to be the best," said Nelson Garrett, owner and operator of Garrett's Tesoro.

Garrett says about half of the gas station's customers are businesses.
