Local Retailer Works To Help Stop Human Trafficking In Cambodia

ANCHORAGE - A new fashion retailer is promising to make their customers look as trendy as their favorite celebrity while giving them the opportunity to give back to the community.

Apricot Lane Boutique is one of the newest stores to open at the Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall.

In honor of human trafficking awareness month, the store is supporting the cause by selling 3 strand global bracelets.

Ann Marie Valdez, the store owner, says all proceeds will go to Agape International Mission (AIM), based in Cambodia, an organization that helps rescue and restore young victims.

"It's such an amazing opportunity to help these kids that really can't help themselves, it's such a huge thing," said Valdez.

Each handmade bracelet features a red seed from a Cambodian sandalwood tree and inside each woven gift box is a small thank you.

Ann Marie hopes bracelet sales bring awareness to a global issue that she says effects even us here at home.
