ANCHORAGE - Bottoms Boutique opened their doors five years ago; since then, like many shops around town they have had to deal with shop lifters.

Weekend and night manager Aurora Henriquez says it’s a frustrating habit.
"Most people are kind of sneaky about it we try and stay on it but when there is only 2 of us or one of us sometimes."

When security cameras weren't doing enough the staff took to social media for a little extra help.
"We have over 6000 people on our Facebook and all of those people can identify who these people are," she said.

Once a theft happens employees take the surveillance footage and post it online. They say within minutes they start to get responses. Many of which lead to an identification at least 98 percent of the time.

"If we didn't have Facebook or Instagram we wouldn't be able to find these people and then find better pictures of them,"said Henriquez.

The owner says shoplifters have taken thousands of dollars worth of merchandise for her store. The most popular item - designer jeans that can cost on average 150 dollars.

Such was the case Sunday when a couple got away.

"Him and the girl he was with just took a pair of jeans and just walked calmly out of the door and we were both helping other people," said Henriquez.

When things are stolen it's not just the store that takes a hit.

"Its personal because it's like this is our store too...I'm a manager and i feel like everything in this store is my priority," she said.
