Man Accused of Smashing Fairbanks Store Windows

A 49-year-old North Pole man is under arrest, accused of smashing storefront windows at three Fairbanks businesses.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska- A 49-year-old North Pole man is under arrest, accused of smashing storefront windows at three Fairbanks businesses.

Scott Clark Rutter is charged with felony criminal mischief in the Sunday night incident.
The downtown businesses affected are Arctic Traveler, the Co-Op Plaza and Alaska Rare Coins. Police estimate damages at $17,000.
According to the criminal complaint, police received a report of the damage at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police say two witnesses identified Rutter, who authorities say has a swollen right hand.
Court documents say one witnesses reported seeing Rutter smash a window with his fist. According to authorities, another witness reported seeing Rutter arguing with a woman.
According to authorities, Rutter says he didn't damage the storefronts. It's unclear if Rutter has an attorney.
