ANCHORAGE - Police arrest a family running a commercial marijuana grow and heroin smuggling operation from a group of trailers around Anchorage.
Colt Allen Burdick, 27, William Garret Patrick, 56 and his two sons Jared Lloyd Jackson Patrick, 25, John Jacob Patrick 28, were arraigned at the Anchorage jail court Wednesday (1/9) afternoon. They're charged with misconduct involving a controlled substance and bail has been set at different amounts for each individual including additional charges. Tuesday detectives raided 5 trailers linked to the operation; 3 located at 3307 Boniface Parkway the other two located at 4031 Lore Road and 227 Newell Street. Law enforcement found and seized 239 marijuana plants from 3 of the trailers on Boniface, and 7.5 ounces of heroin with a street value of $63,000 at the other two locations. Police also seized more than $135,000 in cash, 2 guns and 3 newer model vehicles. The investigation began about 2 months ago on November 7, 2012 when detectives received information regarding an operation. The raid was a group effort between APD Vice, Special Assignment Units, with assistance from Troopers, Drug Enforcement Administration, Airport Police Department and the IRS.
