New Emergency Restrictions For Moose in Subunit 13A

New restrictions only for Subunit 13A for now.

When the moose season got under way it was determined that up to 12 "any-bull"moose could be harvested in game mangement sub unit 13A. This limit based on sustainable harvest principles and current population estimates.

"Any-bulls* are moose that do not meet state general hunt antler restrictions. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game reporting that the quota of "any-bulls" has been met in game management Subunit 13A as of this time.

The Board of Game allocated up to 70 "any-bulls" for the entire Copper Basin Community Subsitence Hunt this season and hunting for "any-bulls" may continue in other parts of Unit 13 covering the Nelchina and Upper Susitna areas.

Beginning at 11:59 pm Wednesday, August 15th, 2012 hunters may harvest one bull moose with spike fork antlers or fifty inch antlers with four or more brow tines on one side.

All hunters are required to follow all established salvage requirments for the community harvest hunts through the end of the season which ends September 20th.
