Medicare-Only Clinic Opens in Anchorage

The new Alaska Medicare Clinic, held an open house Friday, kicking off the start of the new primary care facility.The clinic, located in South Anchorage, is designated for primary care of medicare part b beneficiaries.
The clinic was founded by Dr. George Rhyneer and start up funding was provide by a grant through the State of Alaska, as well as private donations. Moving forward however, the clinic hopes to be entirely self sustaining and will be funded only by medicare payments.
Dr. Robert Thomas, the only physician currently practicing at the clinic, said the need for this type of facility is paramount, as anchorage baby boomers steadily continue to apply for medicare coverage.
