Officials Say Anchorage Bar Should Lose Liquor License

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Officials say an Anchorage bar should not be allowed to renew its liquor license because of its history with multiple violations of liquor laws.
   
Anchorage Assemblyman Patrick Flynn says that he will urge Assembly members to protest renewal of a liquor license for Rumrunner's Old Towne Bar & Grille.
   
Shirley Cote, director of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, also has recommended that the board deny a renewal of Rumrunner's liquor license.
   
Rumrunner's owner has not applied to renew its license, but Cote says it could still apply.
   
State prosecutors say the bar owners are awaiting a January trial on charges of evidence tampering, falsifying records and felony assault. Police say a former Rumrunner's bouncer and possibly other bouncers severely beat a customer last year.

Having worked in a bar (rock club) before, there is no excuse for having such charges laid against them IF they are guilty. As for the bouncers--hang 'em!!
