BETHEL- A Bethel church building built in the 1940s has been destroyed by a fire.
Authorities say an investigation of the early Sunday morning fire failed to determine the cause of the blaze. The building was insured.
The building was the original Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. At the time of the fire, it was used as a rummage room where the church would sell donated items.
After it was built, the building was used as the church for about 12 years until a new church was built.
The original church became a parish hall until about 16 years ago, when a third Catholic church was built.
The church plans to resume the rummage sales once a new location is found.
