Organizations Hope to Benefit from Larger PFD Amounts
Anchorage - Getting your Permanent Fund Dividend is exciting for you, but it's also exciting for organizations in our community.
And with the PFD amount expected to majorly increase this year, more organizations are jumping into the program....and come October you may be seeing double.
"The experts have been predicting anywhere from $1,500 and $1,800 dollars, so that is quite a big jump over last year's $900 PFD," said Heather Beaty who is the Program Manager for Pick.Click.Give.
And Pick.Click.Give. is hoping instead of keeping that money in your wallet...you will share it.
"Pretty much any cause that a person is passionate about, they can find a non-profit to donate to through Pick. Click. Give," Beaty said.
A first time participant in Pick. Click.Give., The Alaska Botanical Garden is hoping that the money that they receive will allow them to expand their opportunities for both their visitors and the community.
"As we expand the garden and our programs we needed a program like Pick.Click.Give to help us raise the money to continue growing and nurturing the garden," said Julianne McGuinness who is the Executive Director at Alaska Botanical Garden.
And it will also, "help further our educational programs and help us maintain the beautiful gardens and do research and be involved in plant preservation and study," McGuinness said. ""We're so grateful for every dollar that people contribute to the Botanical Garden."
And the Botanical Garden feels Pick.Click.Give. really feeds into the caring nature of the community.
"Alaskans are very generous and I think it's a wonderful program and I think people can contribute to all of the non-profits that they want to and they can really make a difference."
