Police Arrest Arsonist for Midtown Apartment FireANCHORAGE - The Anchorage Fire Department says a 41-year-old woman is to blame for a midtown apartment complex fire that displaced more than 30 people Thursday. According to fire officials Jenae Collins, a tenant of the complex, was arrested and charged with arson and reckless endangerment. The American Red Cross of Alaska says as of 5 p.m. Friday, housing resources for those displaced were found. Seven individuals slept overnight in the emergency shelter set up at the Spenard Rec Center. "Salvation Army and Walmart have been amazing, we've been able to offer food and warm meals for the people that have been displaced," said Laura Spano, Development Specialist for The American Red Cross of Alaska. Officials say owners of the cats rescued from the blaze were reunited with their owners. |
