KODIAK- One truck was damaged Monday when a rock slide occurred on a major Kodiak road.

Rocks began falling onto West Rezanof Drive from Pillar Mountain midday. The slide happened between piers 2 and 3.

Department of Transportation spokeswoman says a person driving a pickup hit one of the rocks, and the impact spun the truck around. It was damaged, but she says it doesn't appear the driver was hurt.

Traffic backed up in both directions for about two hours until the road opened.

Officials say the slide probably happened because of recent steady rain and wind gusts up to 45 mph.
