School Board Approves Proposed 2014-2015 Budget

ANCHORAGE-Ak-- It was an epic evening for the Anchorage School Board,

 they unanimously  passed a proposed 2014 - 2015 budget tonight, which included the lay off of 200 employees.
 
The board did approve using reserve funds to bring back 16  teaching positions and three counselors at a cost of 1.9 million dollars.
 
The controversial budget will now go before the anchorage assembly for vote.
 
After super intendent ed graff asked  they hold off on changing to a seven period schedule, students  expressed their feelings - saying they didn't want a seven peried schedule saying it would affect their learning. The board passed post-poning the seven period schedule for at least a year.
