Search Continues for 2 Missing in Alaska Sinking

KODIAK- The Coast Guard continues searching for two people missing after their boat sank while fishing off Baranof Island in southeast Alaska on Thursday night.
One of the three occupants was able to swim to a beach after the 24-foot, aluminum landing craft became swamped in Redfish Bay on the west side of the island. He said one of the other people on board make it to some rocks in heavy surf, but there's been no sign of the person since.
Petty Officer 1st Class Sara Mooers says the search crews include a Coast Guard airplane, a cutter and a Jayhawk helicopter. The two missing were wearing float coats, which are essentially life jackets with sleeves that can keep people warmer than life jackets, but it remains unclear whether they could have survived if they've been in the water the whole time.
She says 17-mph winds and 6-foot seas were expected Saturday, and the water temperature was about 55 degrees.
