(SEWARD, AK) - Seward is known as the gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park. It was named in honor of William H. Seward, President Abraham Lincoln's secretary of state who was responsible for negotiating the purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867.

This year, Alaska celebrates the 100-year anniversary of one of its most important cities.
