KENAI - A 21-year-old Soldotna woman died in a vehicle collision around 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

Troopers say Shelby Gillins was traveling northbound near mile 3.5 on the Kenai Spur Highway when she lost control of her 2007 Chevy Cobalt.

Her vehicle slid sideways and was struck by a southbound 2002 Ford Windstar minivan driven by Sharon Efta, 56, of Kenai.

Gillins was declared dead on scene. Efta was transported to Central Peninsula Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Next of kin have been notified and an investigation is ongoing.
