State Treasurers Meet to Discuss Federal IssuesOriginal Air Date: September 10, 2012 (ANCHORAGE, AK) - A successful state depends on successful finance, and the National Association of State Treasurers made their way to Alaska to talk business. The association's annual conference featured speakers from across North America and the public and private sector. Topics covered emerging markets, the frontiers of banking, pension investing and reforms in financial regulations. Alaska's Department of Revenue hosted 45 different states along with officials from Canada and Mexico. The association president said much of the dialogue surrounds interactions between states and the federal government to ensure financial sustainability. "Alaska has a lot of relationships with the federal government, and so they probably have more expertise in that, and so learning about that is important," said NAST President Kate Marshall. Life-long alaskan and prize-winning author-- charles wohlforth-- will speak on the permanent fund dividend during the conference. |
