A suspicious package found near a back door prompted authorities to close the Wasilla Veteran Affairs clinic early Thursday morning.

A person arriving at the clinic for work just after 6:30 a.m. found a duffel bag with wires sticking out of it.

Alaska State Troopers were alerted. Troopers set up a perimeter out the building, which houses other offices, and kept business owners away. Bomb experts at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage were contacted.

But high resolution photos of the bag revealed what appeared to be sound equipment, including an amplifier with cords. Troopers say in a web posing that upon closer inspection they confirmed the package wasn't dangerous.

Troopers say further investigation also found that contractors had left the equipment outside the door sometime Wednesday night.
