Private Wells Still A Concern

As cleanup from the flooding continues in the Mat-Su Valley some good news today for Talkeetna residents. Water tests are in for the Talkeetna public water system, coming back negative for E-Coli and total Coliform.

Officials proclaiming the water in the Talkeetna public system is safe to drink. As the clean up continues fees are being waived for flood debris coming into the borough landfill.There are certain criteria that needs to be met and you can pick up a form at transfer sites or at the landfill. The Mat-Su Borough public works confirming Thursday that the Butte, Willow and Talkeetna transfer sites will be open seven days per week starting Friday until further notice. Big lake is already open seven days a week.

A community meeting at the Willow community center on Monday night from 6-7p.m.The agenda includes a demonstration in taking a water sample as well as filing for insurance for flood damage. Officials are still urging caution to talkeetna residents if you own your own well.
