Tanana River Drainage Emergency RestrictionsLatest Area To Receive King Salmon Emergency Order.
More disappointing king salmon news from the interior. The Alaska Deparetment of Fish and Game announcing that the Tanana River Drainage will be restricted to king catch and release beginning at 12:01 a.m. this Saturday July 21st.
King salmon caught may not be removed from the water and must be released immediately. Use of bait is prohibited in all tributaries of the Tanana River Drainage including the Chena,Salcha Chatanika and Goodpaster rivers. The current king count in the area is the second lowest since 1993 and Regional Management Biologist Tom Taube isasking anglers to be patient. "We're hoping the king salmon runs will rebound here. We're in the low end of the cycle it should hopefully be coming up here shortly. we're trying to manage it the best we can so we can see those counts rebound" |
