The trial against Jessica Beagley--the Anchorage mom who used hot sauce and cold showers to punish one of her adopted children--continues at the Boney Courthouse.

Beagley produced videos of the punishment to allegedly get help from the nationally-syndicated Dr. Phil Show, which led to a misdemeanor child abuse charge.

The two adopted Russian twins were in 1st grade at Ptarmigan Elementary School when the incidents occured.

The twins' kindergarten and 1st grade teachers testified today, saying Beagley was very interested in their academic progress, and that they never noticed any major behavioral problems at school.

"He was acting like a 7-year-old boy who was very energetic, social, liked to talk with other, but also, when it came to his work, he was very precise, very accurate, and neat," said the adopted son's 1st  grade teacher, Olga Pustina.

I wish someone would put me in touch with Jessica Beasley live. I, too, adopted a child many, many years ago. Children in this situation (adopted, about the right age, the behavior, etc) are mis-diagnosed regularly. Mine was. Raising the child was an absolute nightmare and spending and doing everything human possible to help. Dr. Phil is an entertainer and unqualified to deal with a child like this if it Reactive Attachment Disorger. If it is, I doubt there is a medical professional in Alaska that can. I found one from NY, 4 states away from me. Dealing with this disorder requires complete thinking outside the box, and that is even questionable. I had to seek professional help after he became an adult since I felt a failure. Normal adults simply don't understand the trials and situations of dealing with a child that thinks and processes so radically abnormal.
