Transportaion Funding For Alaska IncreasingCongressman Young Says Good News For Rail, Marine and Tribes.
Congressman Don Youngs office reporting increased funding for Alaska in a 28 month highway bill.
Young working with other conference commitee members beefing up Federal Transit Authority Funding for the Alaska Railroad to $31 million dollars a year. It is money Young says is vital for Alaskas Interior. The bill will also increase funding for the Alaska Marine Highway because funding will be coming from the Highway Trust Fund and not subject to the congressional appropriation process. Alaskas lone congressman also aided in securing over $13 million dollars for 200 Alaskan tribes transportation needs. Both the House and The Senate will take up the final bill before the end of the week. |
