Alaska State Troopers have recovered a man's body from a gravel pit lake in south Fairbanks

FAIRBANKS - Alaska State Troopers have recovered a man's body from a gravel pit lake in south Fairbanks.
   
Troopers are investigating it as a presumed drowning.
   
Troopers spokeswoman said the adult male was walking in a shallow area of the gravel pit that suddenly drops to deeper water.
   
She says the man struggled briefly in the deeper water, went under and didn't resurface.
   
An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
   
Troopers haven't released the man's identity pending notification of his next-of-kin.
