FAIRBANKS- Warm weather, wet roads and freezing rain caused emergency closures in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.

Shortly after 10 am, city officials stopped bus services. By noon, all pools and Birch Hill closed, and shortly after that, the airport shut down it's general aviation runway to remove ice.

Other borough operations closed at three with one exception; the landfill remained open until 5.

EMT's and firemen were helping dozens of residents with their vehicles.

Officials are encouraging drivers to stay off the road if avoidable.

The Borogh plans to re-evaluate conditions early Friday before making decisions on closures.
