(Anchorage, AK) A man accused of injecting a 14-year-old and 17-year-old girl with drugs faces a Superior Court judge.
In the case of the State of Alaska VS. Sean Michael Warner; law officials say the story is one with many twists and turns.
One of them being an accusation that Warner Allegedly injected another under aged girl with drugs the week before Jena Dolstad.
26-year-old Warner faced the judge today [1-5-11] on a 4 count indictment.
Some of those charges stemming from 14-year-old Jenna Dolstad's death back in December, in what court documents claim-- were a direct result of Warner injecting her with heroin.
"One count of Manslaughter, 2 counts of Misconduct Involving A Controlled Substance in the 1st degree for delivering, as that term is legally defined, heroin to two underage people, one 14 and one 17," said Adrienne Bachman District Attorney For Anchorage. "Lastly he was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence which is also a felony offense," Bachman said.
Lawyers say today is the first time Warner entered a plea of "not guilty," his trial is set for March 27th.
"March 27th I would designate as a place holder date, as opposed to a hard and fast date when we expect trial to begin," Bachman said.
At trial Warner could face many possibilities; law officials say manslaughter carries 7 to 11 years, drug crimes could carry 5 to 99 and the sentence for tampering with physical evidence can be 0 to 5 years.
But of course lawyers also say it's important to remember that when it comes to sentencing every situation is different.
Reports say family members claim Warner suffers from post-traumatic stress as a Navy medic in Afghanistan.
Now whether or not this plays into Warner's defense come trial time remains to be seen.
