Wasilla Councilman Seeks Answers to Missing Son's Whereabouts

by Natalie Travis

ANCHORAGE-- After coming up empty handed, family and friends of missing person 30-year-old Shanon D. Lovell are asking for the public's help.

Monday (1/21/13) Lovell's father, Wasilla Councilman Steve Lovell, said the family made a group decision to reach out to the media, because authorities are running out of leads.  He feels investigators are doing a good job, however he worries the worst may have happened to his son and is in need of closure.

Troopers say Lovell was reportedly last seen leaving a residence off of Mcleod Road near the fair grounds in Palmer around 12 a.m. on October 5th.

He is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 190 pounds, with brown eyes and hair. Reports say Lovell was last seen wearing a red and gray shirt and jeans.

Steve says growing up, Lovell was a wonderful, bright child. However in more recent years he allegedly suffered from a drug problem that kept him in and out of trouble.

One of the last times they spoke, Steve says Lovell mentioned things were looking up.

"I took him out to lunch and we visited," Steve Lovell said. "We talked and he's like 'dad you are going to be really proud of me, I've got it going on, I'm going to be fine,'--last time I talked to him."

Anyone with information regarding Shanon D. Lovell is asked to contact troopers in Palmer at 907-745-2131 Mat-Su Crimestoppers at 907-745-3333 to remain anonymous.
