FAIRBANKS- Marilyn Guttenberg, the wife of Fairbanks state Rep. David Guttenberg, has died after a long battle with cancer.

The Democratic lawmaker's office on Tuesday morning confirmed Marilyn Guttenberg died Monday morning in Seattle.

Marilyn Guttenberg was active in her husband's campaigns, as well as local and state politics. Last year, she founded a political action committee to address women's issues.

The couple enjoyed gardening and caring for their animals.

David Guttenberg missed much of the last legislative session to be with his wife but was in Juneau for key votes during the last weeks of session.
