Wind Storm Keeps Insurance Adjusters BusyMake Sure You Document Repairs.
As you might expect after a major storm, insurance agents were waking up Wednesday with hundreds of claims waiting for them.
On average claims were running around the $1,000 mark for damage. Trees crashing down on cars, trees crashing down on roofs,trees knocking down fences. Some insurance companies have already reached capacity for their local offices, flying claims representatives up from the lower 48 to help. Insurance agents we talked to advising anyone taking a survey of their property to use extreme caution, Avoid downed powerlines and watch your step when walking around storm debris. If you are making temporary repairs make sure you document with pictures. If you are calling in professionals, expect to wait a while. Some services now have a three day waiting list for repairs. Which ever route you end up taking make sure and save the receipts, so they can be included in your claim. |
