Inmate convicted of assaulting correction officer
A convicted murderer has been found guilty of assaulting a correctional officer at an Anchorage jail.
ANCHORAGE- A convicted murderer has been found guilty of assaulting a correctional officer at an Anchorage jail.
Alaska State Troopers say 27-year-old James Coven was convicted Tuesday of two counts of felony assault at Anchorage Correctional Complex East.
Troopers say Coven assaulted Officer Sean Winslow the night of Sept. 5, 2012. Winslow was treated for injuries at Alaska Regional Hospital.
Coven was convicted in February 2012 of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of two teenage drug dealers. Christon Lee and Matthew Peterson were both 19 on Feb. 18, 2009, when Coven walked up to their pickup and fired an AK-47 into the cab.
Coven is scheduled for sentencing April 2 in the assault case.
