JUNEAU- A Juneau man has been sentenced to seven years for the death of his then-girlfriend's infant daughter.

Judge Philip Pallenberg sentenced David Paul on Thursday. A jury convicted him of manslaughter in June.

During trial, prosecutors said Paul acknowledged shaking four-month-old Rian Orr after accidentally dropping her in August 2010. The child died a week later.

But Paul's attorney argued none of the state's witnesses testified that Paul's statement to police was consistent with the girl's injury and death.

Paul maintained his innocence before he was sentenced.
