KODIAK- A 46-year-old Kodiak woman will spend two years in jail after forging $46,000 in checks.

Maria Drinkwine earlier pleaded guilty to one count of theft. She had initially been charged with 40 additional forgery charges, but those were dropped in a plea deal.

She also must pay restitution to the man from whose account the 40 checks were drawn from Dec. 17 to Feb. 15. Officials say the two had been in a relationship, but he didn't authorize the checks.
