Anchorage's Economic Forecast Looking Sunny for 2013

Anchorage- 1,800 jobs were added in Anchorage last year according to The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation at it's annual luncheon Wednesday Afternoon.

Over the past two years, Anchorage has added a total of 5,000 jobs in various industries. Health care and construction are two industries projected to see significant growth over the next year.

Not every industry is expected to see growth, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. "Flat is good," said AEDC President and C.E.O, Bill Popp about how stability is beneficial in generating long-term results.

AEDC set out to make Anchorage the number one city to live, work and play in by 2025. The state's largest city currently ranked eighth for living when compared to similar cities.

Keynote speaker at the AEDC luncheon and economic theorist, Richard Florida feels we're living in a time of economic transformation and the key to future success lies in the creative class. A group of individuals using their minds while at work, "They're the people that are building companies and enterpirses. They're the people that are going to drive growth."
