ANCHORAGE, Alaska- An effort is underway to collect laptop computers for foster care youth in Alaska.

Anchorage state Rep. Les Gara and the group Facing Foster Care in Alaska have launched the holiday donation drive, which is part of a year-round effort that so far has resulted in hundreds of laptops being donated.
Amanda Metivier is the group's executive director. She says the hope is to collect at least 20 computers during the holiday drive. She says there is a wait list for them.
The requirements for donated late-model or new laptops are that they shouldn't be more than four years old, they should work well and have a word processing program and Internet capability. Funds to buy computers also are being accepted.
Gara's office is accepting the donations.
