Friday the House Education Committee moved Erin's Law, an effort to prevent childhood sexual abuse.
Erin Merryn spoke on HB 233 to committee members relating her own personal experiences as a child sexual abuse victim.
She also spoke of statistics regarding childhood abuse in Alaska.
The bill mandates school districts to develop age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education for all grades.
Twelve states have passed some version of Erins Law.
The bill now goes to the House Finance Committee.
