ANCHORAGE- Three topics on the minds of many Alaskans: marijuana, money, and performance.

These issues not only lie within the state but the nation.

Even though it's only January, the 2014 election season is shaping up to be a hot one.

In Anchorage, voters may be casting their vote on pebble mine initatives, the oil tax repeal, legalizing marijuana and increasing minimum wage.

With both US Senators in town, people have the chance to ask Senators Murkowski and Begich on how they feel about some of these proposed changes.

Says Senator Murkowski: "Voters will have quite the season ahead of them."

Washington and Colorado have already turned the "battle of the blunts" into a legal issue.

Now an approved measure means the Last Frontier will be next to choose if it's okay to smoke a little green.

On Friday, more than 43,000 signatures for the minimum wage measure were turned in to election officials.

While still not officially approved for the primiaries here, both senators agree Americans are getting short changed on their hard earned dollars.

Both senators are past the days of report cards, but this doesn't mean they stray from self evaluations. When asked how they feel Congress is performing for America, the answers are mixed.

This is the time our senators look forward to, coming back to the Last Frontier and recharging, all while preparing to fight the good fight back in D.C.
