PALMER- Matanuska-Susitna Borough voters have defeated a 5 percent alcohol tax.
Results posted on the borough's website Wednesday morning show the measure was defeated 6,231-3,548.
The Mat-Su Assembly in mid-July proposed the tax on alcohol sales in bars, restaurants and liquor stores.
