JUNEAU- Gov. Sean Parnell has signed an administrative order, directing state agency officials to review existing regulations in an effort to increase efficiency, lower costs and minimize any burden on Alaskans.
Commissioners or agency heads are to review by Oct. 15 this year and Sept. 15 every year after existing regulations to ensure they're consistent with state law and compliance costs to the public are minimized.
In proposing new regulations, agencies are to, among other things, assess the need to avoid adopting unnecessary regulations and include members of the public in the process.
Parnell, in a release, says Alaskans are better served when regulations are limited in scope, plainly written and consistent with laws they implement.
He says the guidelines will ensure laws are implemented in the most reasonable, cost-effective manner.
