Voters Deny Kohring Bid for Wasilla City Council

Voters in Wasilla have denied former state Rep. Vic Kohring's quest to return to elected office.

ANCHORAGE- Voters in Wasilla have denied former state Rep. Vic Kohring's quest to return to elected office.
Unofficial results posted online show Kohring losing his bid for city council to Brandon Wall by a vote of 303 to 124.
Kohring was elected to seven terms of the state House. He was convicted of federal corruption charges in 2007 but the convictions were overturned and a new trial was ordered. Kohring pleaded guilty to a federal corruption charge in 2011.
In Fairbanks, the election for mayor was too close to call.
Tanana Chiefs attorney John Eberhart holds an 84-vote lead over businesswoman Vivian Stiver after nearly 2,600 votes were counted. About 470 absentee and questioned ballots remain to be counted.
