The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport saw record passenger growth in 2018. The airport announced that more than 5.6 million passengers traveled in and out of Ted Stevens last year. That is almost 85,000 more than in 2017. The airport also saw 2.79 million metric tons of air cargo -making anchorage the world's fifth busiest air cargo airport.
The increase in both passengers and cargo is attributed to the state's booming tourism industry; plus, Anchorage is also strategically located between the world’s two largest economies -which consistently provides the airport with solid cargo numbers year after year.
