ANCHORAGE- Alaska State Troopers say a 41-year-old Anchorage man has died in a plane crash west of Glennallen.
Troopers in a web post on Friday identified the victim as Michael S. Zobel, the sole occupant and pilot of the small plane.
Troopers say the cause of the Thursday evening crash wasn't immediately known, but a friend of the pilot witnessed and reported the crash.
Medical responders declared Zobel dead at the scene, about 21 miles north of Eureka Lodge, but they weren't able to remove the body. Poor weather on Friday also prevented air and ground responders from recovering it.
A hunting party that witnessed the crash has been given the clearance to remove the body. Arrangements will be made to deliver the body to the medical examiner for an autopsy.
