Weekend Groundings Due To Out of Date Flight Recorders

Era alaska announcing today that they have resumed limited service in some markets after their fleet of 12 planes was grounded over the weekend.

Officers of the Federal Aviation Administration determining that cockpit voice recorders were out-of-date and needed to be upgraded before resuming regularly scheduled flights. Other flights were cancelled due to the windy conditions.

Upon learning that the recorders did not conform to regulatory specifications Era officials grounded their fleet of aircraft to upgrade the equipment.

"We offer our deepest apologies for any inconvenience this is causing our customers" said company spokesman Steve Smith. "All of our customer service agent and reservation agents are standing by and ready to assist in any manner possible to accommodate our passengers on other carriers or later era alaska flights and to make the unexpected delays as comfortable as possible."
