Anchorage, AK --
The University of Alaska received a budget update on Wednesday.
The Alaska legislature passed a $322 million budget for the university - which is five million dollars less than its current funding level.
This is much better news for U of A since Governor Mike Dunleavy had originally proposed a $134 million reduction in funding.
While Dunleavy still has the power to veto this, if a budget has not been approved by July 1st the University of Alaska Board of Regents has granted UA president Jim Johnsen the authority to cover certain core university operating expenses come next month.
