Anchorage, AK --
The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services issued an accreditation renewal for the Alaska Psychiatric Institute.
DHSS previously issued Wellpath a no-bid contract in February to manage API.
“This is a huge achievement for the Department, the staff, and, above all, the patients at API,” said Jeremy Barr, division director at Wellpath.
Commissioner Adam Crum said, “I am very pleased that API has once again received its Behavioral Health Care Accreditation from The Joint Commission as we were in imminent danger of losing that accreditation. This provides further evidence that the actions we’ve taken over the last few months are making positive improvements for our patients and staff.”
The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
