The officers involved the shooting that took place last weekend in Fairbanks have been identified.
According to Alaska State Troopers, the officer that shot and killed 48-year-old Shawn Wilson has been identified as Trooper Brian Hibbs. Hibbs is an 8-year veteran of the Department of Public Safety.
The trooper who was injured during the incident was Trooper Derek Cottle. Cottle has only been in the department for 7 months, but prior to that served as an officer at Fairbanks Airport Police and Fire for 8 years.
The two troopers were serving an arrest warrant to Wilson, when he shot Cottle. Hibbs then fired at Wilson who died on scene.
