We’d like to introduce you to Staff Sergeant Michael Radovanic.
Radovanic is in the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, assigned to Fort Wainwright's 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team. Radovanic is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and joined the Army in 2012 after graduating from Bowling Green University with a degree in sociology.
Earlier this month, he provided medical support to two three-soldier rope teams that successfully summited Denali and its 20,310 foot peak. Climbing the mountain took 13 days and months of preparation. The teams traveled to Boulder Colorado for 3 weeks prior to the climb for additional acclimatizing.
So far, Radovanic has conquered Mount Seoraksan, Tiefort Peak, Mount Kosciuszko, Mt. Lincoln, Mt. Democrat, Quandary Peak, Mt. Lindsey, Mt. Rainier, among others.
In Alaska, Staff Sgt. Radovanic serves as the Senior Treatment Medic. He has attended multiple specialty schools including the Basic Military Mountaineering Course, Advanced Military Mountaineering course, the SHARP foundation's course and the Subterranean Operations Course while assigned to Fort Wainwright.
Among Radovanic's goals are completing a law degree, climbing The Seven Summits, and completing the Appalachian Trail in a single season. Radovanic is married to his wife Kelly. They have two dogs and enjoy spending as much time as possible in The Last Frontier!
