The 29 wolves of Wolf Country USA are unchained and heading to a new home in California. Volunteers from the Lockwood Animal Rescue Center, 90 minutes from Los Angeles, arrived in Anchorage Thursday to help orchestrate the move.
The action came after Lockwood Sanctuary met with the Alaska State Prosecutor's office. The owners of the animals agreed to have them relocated to the LARC compound.
If they were not moved, the 29 wolves and hybrids faced destruction, since Alaska ownership laws changed regarding wolves and hybrids.
Some of the wolves have been selected to take part in the therapeutic program known as "Wolves and Warriors."
The animals are teamed with veterans that suffer from post traumatic stress disorder, to help them reconnect with the world away from combat. "Have not been able to get over their trauma in traditional ways they've been in group after group," said Dr. Lorin Lindner, from Lockwood Santuary. "I ran a program for over 15 years and I don't see the same kind of results as I have with the animal assisted therapy."
The trip to rescue the wolves was sponsored in part by long time animal rights activist and game show host, Bob Barker

Bob Barker sure knows how to put his money where his mouth is! Especially since he's got enough of it to help pull this off. This is a good program that NEEDS national attention. Both parties involved with the therapy program - the wolves and the combat warriors - have been to Hell and back. So in a way, it's one of those deals where if they could understand what the other was saying, one possible response might be, "Yeah, I can relate to that."

I wish they could have started gthis before the murderers in the Northwestern states started slaughtering wolves, which at this date number over 500 senselessly killed..Man should be really proud of the slaughter, murder and senseless killing of not only adult wolves but also wolf puppies as well...WELL DONE GREAT WHITE HUNTERS WITH BLACK HEARTS...
