Wainwright Soldiers Returning From Iraq

by Steve Brawn

More soldiers are returning to Fort Wainwright from Iraq this week.

Army officials say almost 300 members of the 1st Stryker Brigade
Combat Team are scheduled to return Thursday. A mechanical problem
delayed the flight from arriving Wednesday. More than 100 members
of the brigade came back Monday.

Officials say Thursday's flight will bring to about 1,300 the number of brigade members among 4,000 deployed to Iraq to return from a yearlong tour there.

Army Capt. David Mattox says the redeployment is expected to be completed by Oct. 1.
