FAIRBANKS- The body of an Eagle River man whose all-terrain vehicle overturned in a creek has been recovered.

Alaska State Troopers say the body of 57-year-old Philip Douthitt was found submerged under a log in Butte Creek off the Denali Highway.

Douthitt on Friday was driving an ATV that can seat four people. The vehicle was carrying two others.

They were driving near Alpine Creek Lodge at Mile 68.

Creek water pushed the vehicle over. The two others on board made it to shore and reported that Douthitt was last seen floating downstream.

A trooper helicopter and one from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson searched. The body was spotted a short distance from where the ATV overturned.
